Dead or Alive: Are You Living for Christ or Just Existing?

Introduction
Have you ever asked yourself, “Am I really living the life God wants for me?” The Bible says we must die to the world and come alive in Christ. It sounds deep — but what does it actually mean in simple terms?

1. Dead to the World: Letting Go of the Old Life
To be dead to the world means we stop letting sin, pride, selfishness, and worldly desires control us. It doesn’t mean we stop living life, but we stop living it for ourselves.
“I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me.”
— Galatians 2:20
The Apostle Paul chose to let go of his old ways and live fully for Jesus. That’s our call too.

2. Alive in Christ: A New Life Begins
Being alive in Christ means we’ve received a new life — a better one. We become more loving, more patient, more focused on God. It’s not always easy, but it’s worth it.
“If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new is here!”
— 2 Corinthians 5:17

3. To Die is Gain?
Paul said something bold in Philippians:
“For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain.”
— Philippians 1:21
Whether we live or die, Jesus is our reason. Living for Him now prepares us for eternal life with Him later.
